Wild at heart yoga11/4/2023 ![]() To be wild at heart is to defy these limitations, to embrace them and work with them, not against them. And whether it is your skeletal structure, your age, your weight, your mind, an injury, or even just gravity, we all must learn to work with these simple truths as we move through life. There is no human on the planet that is not. And that is where my wild heart comes in. However, although the movements might be catered to my personal restrictions, my nature as a dancer is to defy these things, at least perceptually. Recently I’ve been spending time in the dance studio working on some choreography and I realized that I develop movement that works with my own unique strengths and limitations. ![]() As I thought about it more and more it all began to make sense. I love the word, and was reminded of the Mary Oliver quote that is tattooed on my body,’ Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?’ The word embodies freedom, non conformity, it’s profound! SO I began to think about the word a lot, and Wild at Heart came into my mind, perhaps because of the David Lynch movie, perhaps because I knew that the word wild had to define something deeper, something internal. I was forced to really think hard about what I wanted to offer the community, and how I could capture that in a name.įirst I looked into dance vocabulary, I knew I wanted to use a name that embodied movement, that felt alive! I came across the word ‘wild’ and just couldn’t let it go. At first I was upset, I had planned to use my middle name and It was hard to let go, but now I see how liberating it was. ![]() ![]() Originally I wanted to use Bloom, but alas, it was already taken. It took me quite some time to find the right name for the things I want to do. ![]()
